Scenario: an LWC shows stale results

Explain a practical end-to-end debugging approach.

By Vishal Verma · Reviewed October 5, 2026

Practice these questions aloud. Give the principle, explain a concrete example, and finish with how you would verify the result.

1. How do you locate the problem?

Suggested answer: Reproduce with a specific user and record. Check whether the save persisted, whether the loader reran, and whether the UI received the expected data. Inspect errors and asynchronous request ordering.

Scenario / follow-up: Separate a failed save from a successful save followed by a stale display.

2. How do you correct it?

Suggested answer: Use the refresh mechanism appropriate to Apex wire, imperative Apex, or LDS. Update reactive state correctly and prevent older asynchronous responses from overwriting current state.

Scenario / follow-up: Keep the component’s data ownership clear.

3. How do you verify the fix?

Suggested answer: Test success, denied access, server failure, repeated clicks, and rapid navigation. Confirm loading and error states and that the displayed records match saved data.

Scenario / follow-up: Explain your tests as user-visible outcomes, not implementation details.
