You are out of mobile licenses: Field Service resource setup

Adding a mobile Field Service resource fails with a mobile-license availability message.

By Vishal Verma · Reviewed October 5, 2026

When this happens

Adding a mobile Field Service resource fails with a mobile-license availability message.

What to check

A service resource record and a licensed Salesforce user are different. Check license availability and assignments rather than deactivating unrelated resources.

Troubleshooting steps

  1. Go to Setup → Company Information and inspect available and assigned Field Service Mobile entitlements.
  2. Check the intended user’s permission set license and permission set assignments.
  3. If no entitlement is free, ask the administrator to review unused assignments and remove only those that are no longer required.
  4. Do not assume deactivating a service resource releases a user’s license. Verify the actual assignment.
  5. Use the learning org specified by the module. A general playground may not include the needed entitlements.

Verify the result

The intended user has the required license and access; resource setup and mobile access succeed.

Based on a community learning issue discussed with Vishal. Guidance reviewed October 5, 2026; org setup, module instructions, and release versions can differ. These steps are checks to perform, not a claim that your org has been tested.
