When this happens
A Visualforce email template tries to show child records using a relationship name Salesforce does not recognize.
What to check
The child relationship name comes from the lookup or master-detail metadata on the child object. It is not necessarily the child object’s plural name.
Troubleshooting steps
- Identify the child object and its relationship field pointing to Project_Template__c.
- Inspect the configured Child Relationship Name or schema describe metadata.
- Use the actual relationship API name, including its custom suffix where applicable, in the template expression.
- Confirm the template’s relatedToType and referenced fields match the parent and child objects.
- If a custom controller or component loads data, ensure it queries the required fields and relationship collection.
Verify the result
Preview with a parent record that has child records, and test the empty-child case.
