LWC returns records for admin but none for an Experience Cloud user

The same component shows data to an administrator but returns an empty result or access error for an external user.

When this happens

The same component shows data to an administrator but returns an empty result or access error for an external user.

What to check

Investigate the actual user identity, account relationship, query conditions, license-supported access, record sharing, and object and field permissions.

Troubleshooting steps

  1. Reproduce as the affected user and inspect a redacted error or debug trace.
  2. Check whether the user has a Contact and expected Account association used by the query.
  3. Verify Apex class access and required object and field permissions.
  4. Check access to the queried records and related records using the appropriate Experience Cloud sharing model.
  5. Review the class API version and database access mode. Keep permission enforcement in place; do not make bypassing security the permanent fix.

Verify the result

The user sees only permitted records and receives a clear error or empty-state message when access or data is absent.
